Aussie Scott Hend claimed his 3rd European Tour title in dramatic circumstances beating Spain’s Nacho Elvira at the 1st hole of a sudden death playoff.
The drama started at the 72nd hole when a clap of thunder on the Spaniards back swing seemed to put him off as his pitch from 75 yards came up way short of the hole.
Needing a birdie at least to force a playoff Nacho then proceeded to hole his putt from 30 ft leaving Hend to hole from 15 feet for victory.
His birdie attempt slid by so a playoff it was and Scott duly birdied for victory, his first since the 2016 True Thailand Classic and the win took him into the top 10 of the Race to Dubai 2019 rankings presented by Rolex.
With this win it moves Hend up from 253 to 134 in the world rankings.
