Paul Casey became the first person in the 19 year history of the Valspar event on the PGA tour to successfully defend the title.
On one of the most demanding courses the tour plays Casey prevailed by one shot on -8 prevailling by one shot from Louis Oosterhuizen and Jason Kokrak.
Casey had to wait nine years between victory’s until last year’s Valspar triumph so winning again so soon is ‘really cool’ according to the player himself. Hitting 9 out of 13 fairway’s and 11 out of 18 green’s on Sunday Casey was a model of consistency although three putt bogeys on 7 and 17 did open the door slightly for the opposition but a regulation par 4 on the 18 th secured his one shot victory.
Paul has been a model of consistency since the turn of the year with his world ranking coming down from 22 to 11.
It’s no secret that Casey absolutely loves the Masters so this is just the boost in confidence that he needs to hopefully lift his first Major.
